Irene Schöfberger is a Data and Research Officer at IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre in Berlin. Prior to joining IOM, she has been working in research, policy advice and capacity building in several countries, including Senegal, Chile, Germany, France and Belgium. She has conducted research on EU-Africa migration and development policies, on transnational livelihoods and on translocal vulnerability at the German Development Institute (DIE) and at the University of Freiburg. She has also worked for the International Science Council, the European Parliament, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and different non-governmental organizations. She holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Freiburg, as well as a M.A. in Cultural Anthropology and a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Bologna.
