Jorge Galindo is the Communications Officer at IOM’s Global Data Institute in Berlin. He manages the Institute’s external visibility activities and liaises with the media and key partners to position GDI as the leading source on migration data and analysis. He has over nine years of experience working in communications in multilateral settings.

Before moving to Berlin, Jorge served as Public Information Officer for the IOM mission in Nigeria for three years. Prior to joining the mission in Nigeria, Jorge was the Public Information Officer for Migration Management at the IOM Headquarters in Geneva. In the meantime, Jorge has also been deployed on short term assignments to cover the Ukraine emergency response in Poland and Ukraine. Since 2023, Jorge is a member of the advisory board of the EU-funded CoMMPASS project which addresses the role of the media in reporting on migration and mobility.

Jorge is a Mexican national and holds an MSc in Intercultural Communication from Tilburg University in the Netherlands (cum laude), and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Puebla, Mexico
