Support to Free Movement of Persons and Migration in West Africa (FMM West Africa) – Migration Data Collection and Management component:
Funded jointly by the EU and ECOWAS, the project seeks to support the development of standardized procedures to collect and process migration-relevant data in the 15 ECOWAS countries, plus Mauritania. It also aims to support the ECOWAS Commission in the development of a regional migration profile, as well as national migration profiles in all these countries.
In cooperation with national and regional actors, as well as other UN agencies, GMDAC has prepared a document, “Guidelines for the Harmonization of Migration Data Management in the ECOWAS Region.” These guidelines, which include a training kit and a trainer’s manual, were used to facilitate a regional training of trainers and national-level trainings. They will be published in English, French and Portuguese in 2018.
