Migration Governance Indicators assessment in Brazil
Susanne Melde (Senior Analyst, IOM´s GMDAC) presented the results of the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI) assessment in Brazil and its links to SDG indicator 10.7.2 during a high-level meeting at the National School of Public Administration in Brasilia on 19 June. The meeting was attended by 20 representatives from different ministries, who commented on the results of the assessment presented. In particular the rights-based approach to migration in Brazil’s 2017 Migration Law was discussed.
Migration and the 2030 Agenda for Development – access and contribution to basic services
The German Federal Foreign Office and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development along with IOM’s GMDAC hosted the twelfth seminar in the Migration and Development Debate Series in Berlin on 22 June. The seminar, “Migration and the 2030 Agenda for Development – access and contribution to basic services”, included insights from Dr. Jessica Hagen-Zanker, Senior Research Fellow for Migration, Overseas Development Institute (ODI), and Veronika Richler, Social Worker at SOLWODI (Solidarity with women in distress).
