The Spanish-language version of the Global Migration Data Portal was launched in Guatemala City, Guatemala, on 20 August 2019.

Susanne Melde (Senior Analyst, IOM’s GMDAC), presented the Portal during side event as part of a regional data workshop on national data issues and opportunities and how to make use of data platforms.

The side event was attended by several government and UN entities. Alongside the Migration Data Portal, the regional platform PRIMI was also introduced, which hosts administrative data relevant to migration from five Caribbean countries.

The Spanish-language version of the Portal aims to contribute to improving knowledge management of migration data in the 20 countries where Spanish is an official language and to increase these countries’ data capacity for measuring progress toward migration-related targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Launched in December 2017 the Global Migration Data Portal, serves as an important knowledge platform for approximately 40,000 unique users per month, including users from international organizations, governments, NGOs, journalists, and the public across all UN Member States.
