Frank Laczko (Director, IOM GMDAC) stressed the data challenges in the field of migration at the annual International Metropolis conference organized in The Hague on 18-22 September. Presenting in the session “Research Innovations and their Policy Implications”, Dr Laczko gave an overview of the link between migration and global development agenda. He suggested that a missing key to the debate is a common understanding of a way forward in sharing and utilizing data effectively.

The plenary addressed the methodological innovations which could improve the knowledge of migration and integration issues, and help foster the development of more effective policies. More than 500 specialists on the theme of migration and global justice attended the annual conference to debate developments in migration and diversity.
