Dr. Matthias Neske is since 2015 Head of research on economic aspects of migration at the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). Prior to this he held various posts in the same authority including head positions within the international affairs department, the Joint Analysis and Strategy Centre on Illegal Migration and the unit on cooperation with police authorities. He also worked with the United Nations on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC) in Wien and Bangkok for research projects on trafficking and smuggling of migrants.

Dr. Neske as a Marie Curie Fellow lectured at the University of Li├Ęge, Belgium before receiving his PhD (Dr. phil.) from the University of Bamberg, Germany.
