Denis Kierans’ work at IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) focuses on analyzing global migration trends and building the practical capacities of IOM Member States to collect, analyze and disseminate migration data and statistics for policy.

He was raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he worked for a local NGO that sponsored the migration of Russians and Israelis to Canada, as well as supported their integration into the local community. He also holds an MA from University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, where he focused on the movements of vulnerable populations in and between Europe and Russia.

Having started with IOM in the Migration Research Unit in Geneva, he continues to pursue his interest in migration and development at GMDAC in Berlin.
