IOM GMDAC launches the Migration Data Portal

IOM's Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) will launch on December 15 the first Migration Data Portal. The event is hosted by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office and is organized by GMDAC. The Portal is being developed with support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and the US Department of State.

The Global Migration Data Portal is a point of first entry for all relevant stakeholders in search of reliable information and intelligible global data about migration. It provides contextual analysis and scrutiny of key migration data to help users navigate the often scattered and complicated nature of migration data in a timely and comprehensive manner. The new Portal will provide access and guidance to a wide range of existing migration data, links to relevant resources in a single location, a search engine for guidance materials and data visualization tools to showcase the information to a wide audience. In the long-term perspective, the portal will contribute to a more informed public debate by making the evidence about migration issues accessible and easy to understand.
